K-drama and a Danish idiom

September 2025

We all know TV shows that have gone on for too long, only to disappoint. The Walking Dead. Dexter. Prison Break. Dare I say even Breaking Bad. The list goes on. They should learn from the Danish idiom "stop mens legen er god" which loosely translates to "stop while the game is still fun". Financial incentives make it difficult for TV shows to follow this advice. Yet, Korean dramas overwhelmingly do. They are usually 10-20 episodes long and produced as one- or two-season shows. Some of my favorite K-dramas are The Good Bad Mother (14 episodes), Move To Heaven (10 episodes), and When Life Gives You Tangerines (16 episodes). Hollywood, take note: stop mens legen er god.
